The time could also be used to ask us about any software or ‘how to’ questions, so please be prepared.

If you were wondering what these big pink structures in Varanasi were for…

Water is supplied to the residents of Varanasi by three sources:

(1) Water is pumped to the structures (the pink ones) where it is purified and supplied to the households through Water Works.

(2) In far off settlements, there are huge tube wells which draw water from underground resources and supply to the households.

(3) In private households and colonies, people draw water from underground sources through mini bore wells.

The pink structure is the water pumping station. This is the property of Varanasi Water Works Department. The used waste water is purified through a water treatment plant.
