The module has now been displaced according to the privacy required for the activity taking place. With partitions connecting to the chain, they turn while the driver paddles, creating different combination of spaces according to the need to the programme. The exterior layer of the module unfolds and reaches the buildings in the city, to collect recycled materials or trade with them. The driver now puts down the structure when they know they are going to be working in an area for a while, in order to be more efficient and allows modules to connect with each other. Before the driver heads to one direction, the slum people would use their phones to map out which modules are planning to open up which particular programme, thus the ones with the same interest will head to the same direction so that when the structure is put down, the modules could join together and contribute to the same activity.

Thanks Nelly,

The ideas are interesting and specially starting to think about navigation like mobile phones. But to some extent the development seems to have got bigger and more focused on the structure. It would be good to also step back a little bit and think about the overal strategy like how the elements of interaction, proximity could be done to form architectures of unexpected. Otherwise if the project follow the system direction (being driven soleley by ‘how’ it will be always brought down by not tapping into other potentials of exploring the city as a imaginative place specially in the context of its need to be re-invented.

It is good to see the diagrams, but the form seems a bit too big? We can discuss it in terms of design in our next tutorial, but untill there what can you learn from your prototype and elements like mobile phone to bring very peculiar and interesting narratives to what a city can be?

Even how the piece will be rendered may be interesting to discuss, like utilizing skecth and toons from C4d to aim for very particular types of presentation that guides and instigate a level of conversation that is not only functional. Here is a tutorial on it:

Of course we will consider practical elements and how it works, but it just needs to be more expansive in its interaction between people/city/environment before!

Good luck!
