Hi Ricardo and Nannette,

Here is the updated drawing. It’s not complete yet. I am experimenting with the atmosphere that I want and as you can see, I need to add people and objects. Small things such as railings need to be modelled also. I have made a couple of changes to the design as well: repurposing the sloped viewing platform to a visitor center, and the stacked roof as a place for plants that are needed for raw material (such as natural dye-giving flowering plants) to grow.

The scene is meant to be when the sun is almost completely down, so that the puppet show can take place.

Looking forward to experimenting more and finalising the drawing!

Hello Ricardo and Nanette,

Here’s the progress on the drawing. I zoomed in to the main structure to show β€˜petals’ and weaving closer as well as the activities that are happening there. I managed to assemble the renders together in photoshop and partially drew the topography. Now starting to add vegetation, background and people. Ill try to finish it soon.

Hi everyone,

I am currently still working on finding the best way to add in the shadow of the structure. I attempted to do so using photoshop as I was having trouble doing so at the rendering stage, but the photoshop result was of low quality so I am going to go back to try again. I am still unsure of the result of the foliage as the colour scheme looks off. I am still thinking of the way to represent the people and the fauna interacting with the surrounding.

Aside from the Drawing, I have been developing my model in order to have the different parts of the project link more to each other (as discussed in the tutorial with nanette), which will aid in the production of the third drawing as well as the development of the first.

all the best,

Hi Ricardo and Nannette,

This drawing is trying to tackle about the scene in the portal (photo booth.) The unreal or the overlay start to interact and camouflage the real or the physical, where the structure itself become the place for the overlay to populate on. The overlay allows us to experience what we can not encounter in the real life. The drawing portrait two type of overlay, one is focus on the underwater-roots of the mangrove and one is focus on the leaves of the mangroves.

The drawing has not finish yet where I still need to photoshop the fishes, snakes, insects, etc… into the scene to really simulate the environments. Also, I wounder should I photoshop the human into the scene or just leave them white as the drawing now.

Hi Ricardo, Nannette and Nicho,

I managed render out the foreground for the second drawing for photoshop. I am also developing the design in the forest in parallel, so I could photoshop them together when it is done and digitally paint over. I am not sure about the the bamboo poles in the foreground. Its the structural support, but its also very distracting. Please let me know what you think.

Thank you,

Hello Ricardo and Nanette ,

The design of the memorial tower and place of birth of the future forest has evolved .

It is a curvy concrete sculpture like structure made out of the imprint of the objects ( resulting from a funeral ritual giving birth to the new Forest ).

The structure itself acts as a portal to enter this new forest which takes places on 1 M AND 2 above sea level .

the addition of this concrete structure filled with memory and objects made me think that that could be repeated further out in the forest , acting as anchors points for the structure to attach and maybe becoming landmarks every year .

Rendering is still an issue , the background with the Kampung is stil rendering . This image show my main chosen colours , the mystic background and the trash looking refreshing but still blending in with the environment .

The people in the drawing are horrible at the moment but still expanding my repertoire and thinking of a way to represent it .

( Fishnets are still not working out but will one day πŸ™‚ )

All my best and See. you soon

Hello Nanette and Ricardo,

Currently still rendering my laptop decided to crash as the render was nearly finished ;( .

Anyways, I managed to clean up the model as much as possible fixing things that we spoke about last tutorial and made the sun light look like its evening time, so the busiest coolest time of the day. During the rendering process I have also managed to collate many images that I will be using for the vegetation and people in the image!

Will post the progress as soon as its done!

Hope you understand πŸ˜‰

Hello everyone!

The final image is still rendering, so I will post it as soon as it is done tomorrow. For now, I have a low-quality version with people as well as a diagram that describes the process of electricity generation. As I said in the last post, this drawing is meant to focus on the energy production starting from rainwater collection, then photosynthesis, next algae growth and storage, oil extraction in tanks, and electricity conversion from the heat.

In the next drawing, I was going to design a workshop space that the locals would use to learn the technology, make the creatures, and socialise by utilising the energy produced.

Thank you!
