An ethical imagination of a symbiotic infrastructure which processes domestic waste produced by local households within close proximity via composting and recycling, at the same time generating allotments which could directly feed back into individual families.

Well, hello blog.

Accidentally found an old article on BLDGBLOG which I found tremendous relevance

http://bldgblog.blogspot.com/2008/10/waste-towers.html

I like what he writes in the end. “Instead of superblock, think filigree. Sustainable waste management will become simply what a city does. ”

Also have a potential name that is better than “ghetto farm”… haha – the “Purging Symbiosis”…

Purging: as oppose to digesting, a reversion of the human digestive system. Although direction is reversed (rather than food to waste, now waste to food), the processes are interestingly the same.

Symbiosis: 1. Biology: the living together of two dissimilar organisms, as in mutualism, commensalism, amensalism, or parasitism. Formerly mutualism
2. Psychiatry. a relationship between two people in which each person is dependent upon and receives reinforcement, whether beneficial or detrimental, from the other.
3. Psychoanalysis. the relationship between an infant and its mother in which the infant is dependent on the mother both physically and emotionally
4. any interdependent or mutually beneficial relationship between two persons, groups, etc.

I quite like the implication of the word to a network system. Also this is very relevant to my project http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Industrial_symbiosis
